A open house will be held tonight to update the public on cleanup along the Nolichucky River.

Greene County EMA Director Heather Sipe said that representatives from both TEMA and Philips & Jordan will be available to meet with the public at the Greeneville Emergency & Rescue Squad building tonight from 6:30 PM until 8:00 PM.  Community members are encouraged to attend the open house to receive updates on the Waterway Debris Removal Project.

Phillips & Jordan are the contractor hired by TEMA to clean up debris along the Nolichucky River in Tennessee.  They are also in charge of the cleanup of Douglas Lake.  P&J crews have working along the banks of the river, cutting up and hauling away tens of thousands of tons of logs, sticks, brush, and flood debris from houses that were destroyed by the floods of Hurricane Helene.  The project is dedicated to restoring and maintaining the state’s waterway.

Several agencies and officials from the state and local area will be at the meeting.

The meeting tonight will be from 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM at the Greeneville Emergency and Rescue Squad located at 602 West Church Street, Greeneville, TN 37745.
