SPARTANBURG, S.C. (Feb. 22, 2025) – Dread him. Run from him. Quimari Peterson still arrives.

The SoCon’s leading scorer played all 40 minutes and posted his second consecutive double-double with 27 points and 10 rebounds to lift ETSU to a 73-68 win over Wofford at Jerry Richardson Indoor Stadium on Saturday. Peterson shot 7-of-12 from the field, 6-of-9 from three-point range, and 7-of-9 from the free throw line.

In his second game back from injury, Jaden Seymour returned to form with 16 points, while D.J. Hughes continued his exceptional run, tying his career-high with 12 points, all in the second half, along with seven rebounds.

The Buccaneers (17-12, 10-6) went into the half tied with the Terriers (15-14, 9-7) and traded baskets out of halftime, but ETSU took the lead for good when Hughes found Karon Boyd for a layup to make it 35-34 Bucs with 15:37 left to kickstart an 11-0 run. ETSU held their largest lead of the game at 63-52 with 1:25 to play, but Wofford scored 16 points in the final 85 seconds to cut into the deficit and had the lead down to four with 16 seconds left in the game. ETSU held their nerve at the free throw line, shooting 10 of 13 on free throws in the final minute to keep the Terriers at bay.

Allen Strothers contributed eight points off the bench and a team-leading four assists, while Karon Boyd played all 40 minutes and finished with seven points and seven rebounds. As a team, the Bucs shot 52% from the field and 50% from three-point range. They bested Wofford in rebounding (34-30) and won both points in the paint (28-14) and second-chance points (13-12).

The win lifts ETSU to fourth place outright in the SoCon, one game back of Samford for third with two games to play. The Bucs return to Freedom Hall for their final schedule home game of 2024-25 against Mercer on Wednesday at 6:00.
