The National Weather Service in Morristown has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for much of East Tennessee, including Greene County, until 1:15 PM. The storm warning may be extended in time.
At 12:32 PM EST, a line of severe thunderstorm was moving east at 55 mph, and will impact all East Tennessee counties. The line of storms are capably of producing 70 mph wind gusts and quarter size hail. The NWS says that hail damage is possible to vehicles and considerable tree damage. Wind damage is also likely to mobile homes, roofs, and outbuildings.
This is a DANGEROUS SITUATION. This storm is producing widespread wind damage across the Knoxville area. A wind gust of 75 mph was confirmed at Knoxville McGhee Tyson Airport.
