An Afton man is out $4,000 after he responded to an email pretending to be from PayPal.
According to the Greene County Sheriff’s Department, the victim received an invoice in an email that claimed to be from PayPal. When the man clicked the link, he called the number attached to it and discovered that two transactions were made from his bank account, one for $10,000 and the other for $4,000.
The victim called his bank, which was able to retrieve the $10,000 but has been unable to retrieve the $4,000.
