A Greeneville woman apparently fell victim to a scam via FaceBook this week. On Friday, the victim reported to the police, that she believed she had applied for a job found on Facebook for a company called OctoPharma. The victim was sent checks and told to cash them, and purchase Apple Gift Cards and bitcoin to send back to the company for supplies that the victim would need.
Two checks, one for $9,800 and the other for $8,500 were cashed at a local credit union. The bitcoin was sent and the Apple Cards information given, before the bank informed her that the checks were no good.
