The Greeneville Energy Authority met for for just over a half hour Tuesday to address a short agenda of items during their October meeting in the GEA Boardroom.
BROADBAND
GEA Broadband Director Phil Bradley gave his monthly update and presented an updated coverage map and plans moving forward. Bradley had said earlier the goal is to have the broadband main line blanketing most of the county by June of 2027. It’s expected to be early December before final federal approval is granted for the BEAD grants to assist the local utility in reaching the entire county.
ENGINEERING UPDATE – SERVICE RELIABILITY NUMBERS
During his monthly report , Operations Manager Robert Keller reported a second consecutive month of service reliability, meaning lack of service interruptions to GEA customers, for the past month was again point 99992. Keller says the current customer count is 40,953.
SILICON RANCH
GEA President and CEO Dwayne Wells reported the Silicon Ranch project should be online by early November. Initially, the construction deadline was December of 2024. The contractor has been paying liquidated damages to GEA due to the delay.
NEXT MEETING
Due to the Thanksgiving holiday , the next meeting will be on Thursday, November 20 at 9 am rather than the fourth Tuesday, which is the regular meeting date.
