The Greene County Board of Education breezed through their October agenda Thursday in less than an hour in a meeting held at South Greene High School.
SOUTH GREENE BAND
The South Greene Band opened the meeting with the national anthem and another song under the leadership of Band Director Jacob Frederick and Drum Major Morgan Barham.
CTE UPDATES
Architect Dave Wright updated board members on CTE constructions at West Greene and Chuckey Doak. West Greene remains on schedule for use when students return from the Christmas break in January. The Chuckey Doak location should be ready in mid-January.
CHRISTMAS BONUS
All Greene County School certified and classified employees will receive a $1,000 Christmas Bonus this year minus taxes.
SCHOOL BOARD PAY INCREASE
School Board members voted themselves a raise, which will pay them each $300 for school board meetings and $150 for committee meetings. That amount is the same paid to Greene County commissioners. Previously rates have been $200 and $100 for school board and committee meetings respectively.

TENNIS COURT UPDATES
During the Directors report, Dr. Chris Malone reported Tennis Court upgrades at South Greene (shown below) and North Greene are nearing completion and look great and the Chuckey Doak improvements will be finished by the first week in November.
TEAM RECOGNITIONS
Athletic team recognitions Thursday were made to the South Greene Middle School football team for an undefeated season, the Chuckey Doak Middle School football team as the Division 2 Area 1 champions and the West Greene Middle School volleyball team as 2025 State Champions.
The elementary, middle and high school Top Ten All County Cross Country runners were recognized. The list:
Dr. Malone also congratulated the South Greene and West Greene volleyball teams for their participation in the State Volleyball Tournament. Both teams were eliminated on Thursday.
NOVEMBER CALLED MEETING
A called meeting of the board will be held on Thursday, November 6th at 5:30 pm at the Central Office on West Summer Street.
CURRICULUM COMMITTEE MEETING
A Curriculum Committee Meeting to be held on November 18 at 5:30 p.m. at the Central Office in the Boardroom.
NEXT REGULAR MEETING
The next regular meeting of the board will be Thursday, December 4 also at the Central Office.
