The agenda for the first ever meeting of the County Commission at the Greene County Administration Center was released Friday.
The meeting is scheduled for Monday, October 20 at 6:00 in the General Nathaniel Greene Assembly Hall on the first floor of the renovated building. Mayor Kevin Morrison says there are numerous areas throughout the first floor that pay homage to the history of the former Takoma Hospital and the people who worked there. And he says even the name of the meeting area honors the legacy of the man for whom the county was named.

By design, the look of the interior is not Taj Mahal in nature or in cost, but those who planned and are renovating the building have been very creative in the design scheme, especially as it pertains to those who will work there and citizens who conduct business there. Most business matters related to the public, such as the register of deeds, trustee, property assessor will eventually be located on that floor. Zoning and Building moved in last Monday. The County Clerk move will begin this week, with the first day of business in the location on Monday, October 20. Driver’s License services which have been offered at the annex will continue to operate out of the County Clerk’s office as well at the new location.
On that same Monday, the County Commission will convene for the first time in the spacious assembly hall.

Appointments to various committees and boards and nomination and approval of Chairman and Chairman Pro tem are among the agenda items as well as resolutions and proclamations.

FUTURE MOVES
Mayor Morrison says the Trustee, Property Assessor and Register of Deeds offices are planning to move soon after the tax season at the end of February, followed by administrative office moves to the still under renovation second floor afterwards. Later in 2026 the Sheriff’s Department offices and Greene County School System are scheduled to move to the third and fourth floors respectively.
