Greeneville Emergency and Rescue Squad member Xavier Gillespie was honored during the Tennessee Association of Rescue Squads banquet and awards dinner Saturday. Gillespie was recognized for his work during Hurricane Helene. He was awarded the Hugh “Skip” Trotter award for risking his life to save another. In the 70 years of the Tennessee Association of Rescue Squads, this award has been given only a few times. Greeneville Emergency and Rescue Squad echoing the thoughts of the state association , says “it is with great pride and honor to congratulate Zavier Gillespie for a job well done.”
