Radio Greeneville has released a new documentary marking the one-year anniversary of Hurricane Helene and the devastating floods that changed Greene County.

The program recalls how the Nolichucky River, normally a place of beauty and recreation, became a raging torrent that destroyed lives and homes in just a matter of hours. One person lost his life. More than sixty families lost everything when their homes were swept away. Another 150 houses suffered major damage, leaving entire neighborhoods scarred and lifetimes of work and memories erased.

The one-hour production includes video, photographs, 911 recordings, and interviews that document both the destruction and the resilience of the community. It shows how recovery remains unfinished for some, but also how Greene Countians stood together to rebuild after one of the worst natural disasters in local history.
