Greene County’s unemployment dropped two percent in August, according to data released Thursday afternoon by the Tennessee Department of Labor & Workforce Development.
The county’s rate in August was 4.8 percent, down from 6.8 percent in July. Greene County’s rate in August 2024 was 4.7 percent.
The unemployment rate for August 2025 decreased in all 95 Tennessee counties. No county experienced a declined from June to July.
Sevier County had the lowest rate in August at 2.7 percent, while Perry County had the highest at 5.4 percent. Greene County had the 6th highest rate in the state at 4.8 percent.
The state unemployment rate for August was 3.6 percent, unchanged from the July rate. State unemployment rates are seasonally adjusted, while county rates are not.
