A Hidden Valley Lane man died Saturday afternoon after his vehicle was found upside down in a pond near his home.
The victim was identified as Frank G. Cremins.
According to a report from the Greene County Sheriff’s Department, a witness said he and his sisters were walking up to the pond on Hidden Valley Lane to go fishing shortly after 5:00 pm and saw a black truck belonging to Cremins upside down in the pond. The man ran to have someone call for help.
Another man, who lives in an apartment in the lower part of the house where Cremins resided, heard dogs barking and ran outside. The two men then went into the water to see if Cremins was in the vehicle. They could not get the front doors open. They felt in the back seat of the truck and were able to feel Cremins. A third man saw the truck in the pond and also ran to help. Cremins was then pulled from the back window of the vehicle.
When the Greene County Sheriff’s Department arrived on the scene, CPR was in process, but Cremins was pronounced dead. According to the report, Cremins was transported for an autopsy. The vehicle was pulled from the pond and left on the property.
The man who lives in the apartment told deputies he last spoke to Cremins around 4:45 that afternoon when he brought his mail to him.
No information was provided on the report regarding a possible cause of the accident.
