It has been a week to forget for a Chuckey woman.
Monday afternoon she and her husband were arrested at their Dashaway Road home on domestic assault charges. After appearing in Sessions County Wednesday, her daughter came to pick her up at the Greene County Detention Center. Wanda Shipley decided she would drive home, but as she turned from South College on East Depot, she told police the gas pedal became stuck, causing the vehicle to accelerate. The car left the roadway and struck the Express Bail Bonds building. Shipley’s 2025 Nissan Versa then rolled backwards and struck a parked car.
Her daughter Donna sustained injuries in the initial crash and was taken to the Greeneville Community Hospital ER.
There was no one inside the parked vehicle and no one inside the business was injured.
