PUZZLE PIECE
Yates spoke a lot about team building. Giving a puzzle piece to each of those in attendance, she talked about building relations. But with each holding their single puzzle piece, she asked “What’s missing? What is needed to complete the picture. And then I want you to imagine all the pieces if they got put together and what if yours was missing. The jigsaw puzzle is such a wonderful way for us to illustrate where I’m getting to. Every one of us is completely essential, but it’s only them together that we have a complete picture. And if you have all the other puzzle pieces but one, is it complete? No. So we’re important as ourselves, we’re important as a group. So think about what I’ve said so far. It’s not really about them. If I come in and I’m not feeling good, it’s not good on me. Sometime ago it occurred to me, it’s not about them, it’s not about me. It’s about the democracy. It’s about my community. It’s about my state. It’s about my county. But it’s not about me.”
