The Teacher Supply Depot is an event hosted every fall and spring semester by the Greene County Partnership. Over 65 teachers from both the Greene County and Greeneville City School Systems, filled up on classroom supplies and school supplies. “We’ve started hosting this for two days instead of one. The first day is for new teachers who maybe don’t have a lot of classroom supplies built up yet, like electric pencil sharpeners and hole punchers. The second day is open to all teachers in both our school systems,” said Kendra Hopson, general manager of the GCP.
“While teachers do receive stipends for some school supplies, those stipends won’t cover tissues, antibacterial wipes, bandaids, paper towels, and other things that you need in a classroom,” said Hopson.
The GCP would especially like to thank sponsors Tusculum Body Shop, Andrew Johnson Women’s Club, and John Deere. “We also want to thank Greene County Government for the use of space, and we are grateful for the employees at Meco/Unaka who held a school supplies drive. We get wiped out every time we host the teacher supply depot, so we are always looking for sponsors for this event,” said Hopson.
