Greeneville Police tell Radio Greeneville News they have made an aggravated robbery arrest, but the investigation into the reported incident last Friday at Food City on Snapps Ferry Road continues.
A release this morning from Greeneville Police Department Specialized Services Captain Josh Pierce says “after a thorough review of surveillance footage, witness statements and other investigative findings, it has been determined the alleged robbery did not occur as it was originally reported to law enforcement. However, the facts gathered during the investigation led to the arrest of 34 year old Champagne Cansler, 2025 Gilbreath Road, Mosheim for Aggravated Robbery.”
The news release goes on to say “We understand that reports of crimes, especially those involving public places, can cause concern in the community. Our department remains committed to providing accurate information and ensuring public safety through transparent communication. The Greeneville Police Department appreciates cooperation Food City management and staff during the investigation. At this time, no further information will be released.”
