The Greene County Partnership has announced the appointment of Amee Fillers as the organization’s new Tourism Director. Fillers succeeds Molly Boyd, who recently relocated from the area.
A Greene County native, Fillers (formerly Hankins) brings a deep-rooted passion for the region and a strong background in environmental conservation to her new role. She is a 2019 graduate of the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, where she earned a degree in Environmental and Soil Science with a concentration in Conservation Agriculture and a minor in International Agriculture. She is currently pursuing her master’s degree in Fish, Wildlife, and Conservation Biology at Colorado State University, with plans to graduate in May 2026.
Most recently, Fillers was employed by the Cherokee National Forest, where she worked in both the fisheries and wildlife programs. In addition to her fieldwork, she served in collateral duties including wildland firefighting. Her experience includes assisting with prescribed burn operations and wildfire suppression across Tennessee, as well as deployments to Montana, Minnesota, and Florida through interagency partnerships.
Fillers has also contributed to local tourism efforts through her volunteer work with the Greene County Partnership’s Firefly Festival, serving as one of the region’s few specialists in firefly interpretation and identification. Additionally, she served as a partnership coordinator for the Southern Appalachian Spruce Restoration Initiative (SASRI), a collaborative dedicated to restoring critical spruce-fir habitat across the Southern Appalachian Mountains.
Originally from Afton and a 2016 graduate of Chuckey-Doak High School, she now resides in the South Greene area. Her personal connection to the region fuels her excitement for promoting its attractions to both residents and visitors.
“I’ve always loved this area and all it has to offer,” Fillers said. “I’m excited to step into this role and help showcase the natural beauty, history, and charm that make Greene County such a special place to live and visit.”
With a blend of scientific expertise, local knowledge, and enthusiasm, Fillers is poised to make a meaningful impact on tourism development and community engagement in Greene County. Fillers can be reached at [email protected] or 423-638-4111.
