The Greene County Budget and Finance committee has voted to leave county Hotel & Motel Tax appropriations the same as they are in the current year, at least for the beginning of the new budget year.
HOTEL/ MOTEL TAX
Meeting Wednesday at the Annex, committee members voted to keep the appropriations where they are moving forward, subject to a mid-year review.
The hotel/motel appropriations were among budget items discussed following a workshop with the full county commission on Monday.
REVISED BUDGET APPROVED
The revised budget, including some revisions discussed Monday, also received Committee approval. The new budget remains balanced without requiring monies from the fund balance and requires no tax increase.
TAX LEVY SET
A resolution fixing the tax levy at a dollar sixty five outside and a dollar sixty four inside was approved
LOWEST TAX RATE IN NE TENNESSEE
Adoption of the rates prompted Mayor Kevin Morrison to proclaim Greene County with the lowest tax rate in Northeast Tennessee.
