Greeneville Career and Technical Academy will be the new name of the former Greene Tech Center.
The name change was approved during a short Greeneville City Board of Education meeting Thursday afternoon at the Central Office.
Thirty plus possible names were submitted for consideration to the Naming and Branding Workgroup which met three times this month before deciding on two names to present to the School Board for their consideration.
Greeneville Career Academy and Greeneville Advanced Technical Academy were offered to the board.
After some discussion related to variations of the two, board members on a motion from Josh Quillen and second from Pam Botta, approved Greeneville Career and Technical Academy by unanimous vote of Quillen, Botta, Dr. Craig Shepherd and Board Chair Cindy Luttrell. Board member Crystal Hirschy was absent.
