An arrest was made for suspected drug use in the parking lot of a popular local coffee shop.
Officers were called to 7Brew on Rufe Taylor Road around 10:00 PM Friday for a reported female who kept nodding off while in the drive-thru. Witnesses told police at one point, people had to bang on the truck’s door to get the driver to wake up.
Upon arrival, officers observed the vehicle still parked in the drive-thru, and spoke with the driver, who was identified as Mikaila Chapman-Delotto, of Widow Hollow Road. The woman reportedly had slurred speech and seemed very lethargic.
Chapman-Delotto consented to a search of the vehicle, according to the report, while she was given standard field sobriety tests, which she performed poorly on.
The suspect allegedly told police she had taken a Xanax early in the afternoon. A search of the truck located drug paraphernalia, such as multiple baggies with residue and burnt pipes. A small amount of Marijuana was also found, along with a large quantity of a white powdery substance, suspected to be baking powder used to cut cocaine.
Chapman-Delotto was then placed under arrest for Driving Under the Influence and possession of Drug Paraphernalia. After a consensual blood draw, she was transported to the Detention Center without incident.
The white powdery substance is to be sent off for testing. Other charges are pending TBI results.
