Plans for a residential development three quarters of a mile from the end of the Greeneville Municipal Airport off Whitehouse Road took a major hit today when the Municipal Planning Commission voted down the project.
Last month, the Commission had denied a grading permit for the planned development from Land Star Development. But continued public outcry from some related either directly or indirectly with the airport apparently swayed the commissions decision to deny the entire project when they met today.
Scott Niswonger, as he and others had done earlier, addressed the board again today prior to the deciding vote, again citing safety and noise issues, as well as the inability of Whitehouse Road to be able to handle the additional traffic.

The unanimous vote to deny the project followed discussion with Planning Administrator Randy Davenport. Davenport had requested the board take type of action today on the project. Davenport, in a twenty minute step-by-step breakdown of how long the town had been dealing with the matter, dating back to some rezoning in October of 2021.
