BASEBALL
The Greene Devils concluded the Cure for Cancer Tournament and came away with a pair of victories.
Friday afternoon, the Greene Devils took a 12-2 victory over Lenoir City. Kobe Mundy picked up 3 RBI’s on 3 singles, while Will Harmon drove in 3 runs with a triple and double, and Noah Murray plated 2 with a triple and double. Grayson Crosby picked up the win allowing only 2 runs (1 earned) in 5 2/3 innings.
The next morning, the Greene Devils came out on top of Providence Academy 2-0 in a pitcher’s duel. Carson Norris went 5 innings on the mound to collect the win, while Randen Fillers closed out the final 2 innings for the save. Kaine Ricker drove in 1 run with a double, while Conner Ireland, Will Harmon, and Jeriah Griffen all had singles.
Greeneville is now 10-1 on the year and will travel to Volunteer on Monday
SOFTBALL
The Lady Greene Devils travelled to Cocke County on Friday and shut out Cosby 15-0. The bats were sizzling as the Lady Devils collected 12 hits; 9 of them going for extra bases. Kayley Garland provided a lot of pop with 3 hits (2 home runs and a double) and driving in 4. Brynlee Jones drove in a pair of runs on a pair of homers, and Kyla Jobe plated 3 on a homer and double.
Jones was also dominant in the circle, throwing the complete game shutout, allowing only 1 hit while striking out 5 and walking 3.
