Construction of the new Career and Technical Education facilities at West Greene and Chuckey Doak are running a bit behind schedule.
Originally projected to be 13 month projects which began in June, Jerry Cline says he now expects West Greene to be complete by late September of next year, and Chuckey Doak about this time next year. Cline and Project Architect Dave Wright both addressed Greene County School Board members during their Thursday meeting.
Cline is the Project Manager with Path Construction and General Contractor for the CTE additions at both schools. Cline reported at West Greene there were some structural engineering concerns after the flooding which are being addressed. Work at both sites was slowed by issues created by the September flooding.
When finished, the 22,862 square feet West Greene addition will house a new laboratory and classroom space to be utilized for Career and Technical Education programs. At Chuckey Doak, a 27,514 square feet facility will also house the new laboratory and classroom space for the CTE program at that location.
In other construction related matters within the school system, the Greenhouse structure at Chuckey Doak will remain where it is currently located. The Fire Marshall had raised concerns about the proximity of the structure to the main building. A sprinkler and fire alarm installation in the Greenhouse will alleviate those concerns.
The School Board also approved resolutions which will be presented to the County governing body for tennis court renovations and additions and the construction of a track behind Doak for use by all the county school track teams and the community.
