Longtime media contributor, Joe Byrd, was honored by Tusculum University for his over 30 years of support to the Athletic program and University.  Byrd started covering Tusculum athletics upon his graduation from ETSU in 1994 and the assistant sports editor for the Greeneville Sun.  Byrd covered all sports as the Tusculum beat writer until his departure from the Greeneville Sun to pursue a teaching career.  Byrd graduated with a teaching degree from Tusculum and began his education career at West Greene High School.  During that time, Byrd never left the broadcast booth and continued to provide analysis for Tusculum football on the Pioneer Sports Network.  Byrd took over the primary analysis role in 2002.  Byrd will broadcast his last “regular” game on Saturday, November 16th when the Pioneers travel to play Catawba with kickoff at 6pm on the Pioneer Sports Network, 95.5FM WSMG, The Jewel.  Byrd and his wife, Dr. Suzanne Byrd, who is, and will remain, a professor with Tusculum University, will be moving out of state at the conclusion of the school year in 2025.
