The Tennessee Department of Labor & Workforce Development reported this afternoon that Greene County’s unemployment rate in June was 5.2 percent, up from 3.6 percent in May.
Greene County’s rate in June 2023 was 4.6 percent.
The unemployment rate for June 2024 increased in all 95 Tennessee counties. Sevier and Williamson counties had the lowest rate at 2.7 percent, while Bledsoe County had the highest at 5.8 percent.
Seasonal changes in employment that occur annually, such as school breaks, had a significant impact on unemployment across the state. Unlike the state unemployment rate, county rates are not seasonally adjusted.
The state rate for June remained at an all-time low of 3.0 percent.
