Reminder Of Youth Council Sign Up Day Saturday
Share on FacebookShare on TwitterEmail

Those who have signed up are reminded that the Greene County Partnership’s Youth Council program will kick off with a sign-up day on Saturday, July 13, at the Greene County Fairgrounds (Andrew Johnson Bank Pavilion). Students from any Greene County high school, Greeneville High School, or HomeLife Academy are invited to join the council.

The Youth Council Program, which has received Greene County’s Volunteer Spirit Award for each of its sixteen years, aims to engage high school students in community service. This program is distinct from the Partnership’s Youth Leadership Program as it focuses on volunteer work rather than curriculum-based activities. To earn certification from the Youth Council Program, students must complete 50 hours of volunteer community service within a school year.

The program includes organized group activities, and students can earn volunteer hours through these activities or independently. Membership in the Youth Council provides a valuable opportunity to secure college scholarships available to students who contribute to their community through service learning.

Students interested in joining the Youth Council must attend the sign-up day. Registration is from 8:30 to 9 a.m., followed by a volunteer project from 9 a.m. to noon. A $50 membership fee covers the cost of a Youth Council t-shirt and folder/notebooks. Students unable to attend due to vacations or school-related events can be excused. Please must have contacted the Partnership prior to July 10 to attend tomorrow’s sign-up.
