There will be some changes to the landscape around the Church Street intersection with West Andrew Johnson Highway.
The Tennessee National Guard is conducting their summer training exercises with heavy and earth-moving equipment. This year, they have partnered with the Greeneville Energy Authority (GEA) to conduct these exercises on an area adjacent to the GEA Operations Center.
Tennessee Army National Guard personnel will be using large earth-moving equipment such as bulldozers, trackhoes, sheepsfoot rollers, excavators, and other large machines during the project. The work will improve the site at minimal cost to the Greeneville Energy Authority, as the Tennessee Army National Guard supplies the labor and equipment as part of their training exercise.
This will prepare the area for a potential building project. The work is projected to take up to three weeks and will be a valuable step in preparing this previously undeveloped site for future uses by GEA.
