Chuckey-Doak and South Greene clashed in an exhilarating high school tennis showdown on Wednesday, with Chuckey-Doak earning a 6-3 in girls and 5-2 in boys competition.
The girls’ match kicked off with doubles play, where South Greene’s Ryleigh Gregg and Lyndsey Howlett notched the first point. However, Chuckey-Doak swiftly responded as the teams of Alyssa Gaby with Ava Pincombe, and Jenny Gonzalez paired with Casey Barwick, secured wins to put Chuckey-Doak in the lead, 2-1.
As singles matches commenced, Casey Barwick of Chuckey-Doak delivered a decisive victory against Aubrey Carter of South Greene, followed by Alyssa Gaby’s win over Brynna Wilhoit, extending Chuckey-Doak’s lead to 4-1. South Greene’s Ryleigh Gregg and Ari Hoese mounted a comeback, earning wins at the number one and number three positions, respectively, tightening the score to 4-3. Nonetheless, Chuckey-Doak’s Maria Wesoly clinched a crucial victory at number two singles, and Ava Pincombe sealed the win in a thrilling tiebreaker at number five singles, securing a 6-3 overall victory for Chuckey-Doak’s girls.

In singles play, Chuckey-Doak continued their strong performance with victories at the number two, three, and four positions by Vinnie Sanocki, Logan Hilton, and Lui Woods, respectively. South Greene’s Nick Turner salvaged a point for his team with a win at the number one singles match.
With this impressive win under their belt, Chuckey-Doak looks ahead to their next challenge against Morristown East at the Greene County Tennis Center today (Thursday, 18th).
