A small trash can fire that started inside a residence on the 500 block of Easterly Road lead to a bigger fire that required the assistance of multiple fire departments on Friday afternoon.
According to the report, the victim said he dumped his ashtray in his bathroom’s trashcan. He then noticed the trashcan was smoking so he reportedly smothered the can and thought he fixed the problem. He took the trash and threw it in a trashcan that was outside on his porch.
A few minutes after going inside he saw the trashcan outside was on fire and he was unable to put it out. The Mosheim, Town of Mosheim, Midway, McDonald, Caney Branch, and Debusk Volunteer Fire Departments all responded to the scene. No further information was listed regarding the extent of the damage caused by the trash. No injuries were reported.
