Two people were arrested after the driver of a vehicle ran a stop sign Saturday night.
A deputy with the Greene County Sheriff’s Department stopped the car at the Keller Road and Erwin Highway intersection around 9:30 PM after the driver rolled through a stop sign and failed to maintain the appropriate lane of travel.
The driver was identified as Sherry Mathes and a passenger Sara Dunbar of Mimosa Lane. A back passenger said he did not have ID on him and kept attempting to conceal himself. He then gave a name that was later discovered to be false. He was correctly identified as Philip Davis of Crockett Timbers Road. He said he lied about his identity due to having active warrants.
The three said there were no illegal substances in the vehicle, but a K-9 deputy on the scene alerted on the car. Dunbar then said there may be syringes inside. A bag was found in the passenger side with syringes, along with a baggie with meth residue. Davis had a syringe and a rubber pipe consistent with meth usage.
Dunbar was arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia. Davis was arrested for his active warrants, along with possession of drug paraphernalia and criminal impersonation.
