A Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect for the lower elevations of Greene County from 7 PM this evening to 7 PM on Friday. For the higher elevations, the advisory begins at 7 PM tonight and continues through 7 AM on Saturday.
Mixed precipitation and freezing rain is expected. Meteorologist Allan Diegan from the National Weather Service in Morristown let us know as of this morning, the mountains could see 2-4 inches of snow. Less accumulation is expected in lower elevations with about half an inch to 1 inch. It could just be a dusting, according to Diegan.
Listen to Allan Diegan’s full comments here:
He stated freezing rain will accumulate with a couple hundredths of an inch of ice. With the moisture from snow melting it will create black ice. Plan on slippery road conditions. The hazardous conditions could impact the morning or evening commute. Friday night lows will be near 7 degrees with wind chills near -5. Saturday Night lows will be near 0 with wind chills of around -8.
