A Chuckey man was arrested for violation of probation and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon early on Wednesday.
While on routine patrol around 2:30 this morning, Greene County Police noticed a large amount of smoke around a residence at Wilhoit Road.
Upon further investigation, officers made contact with the suspect, George Hambric of Chuckey. Officers had prior knowledge that the suspect had active warrants.
When police approached Hambric, he quickly turned away removed an item from his right side, and threw it towards a pile of wood. He then attempted to walk away from the police, according to the report.
Officers then noticed a holster on his right side and observed a gun lying in the area where the object had been thrown. Hambric was immediately taken into custody.
An investigation on the scene revealed that Hambric also had multiple bank cards in his wallet belonging to multiple individuals. He was charged with active violation of probation criminal offense and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
