More details have been released regarding a vehicle pursuit Monday night where a man was taken to the hospital after a K9 was released to assist with his arrest.
According to the report, the suspect, Brandon Fenner of Jonesborough, was pulled over by the Greeneville Police Department on the 11E, near Pruitt Road North for speeding. Fenner was unable to provide a license so the officer went to his vehicle to run the suspect’s information. Once the officer got to his vehicle, Fenner fled.
Fenner allegedly took off and made it to West Summer Street when officers discontinued the pursuit and the Greene County Sheriff’s Department took over. The suspect ran several red lights while fleeing and even ran off the roadway on Tusculum Boulevard and spun out. He also hit a deputies vehicle in the process of fleeing. The GPD report states spike strips were set up but were unsuccessful.
Fenner continued fleeing at a high rate of speed and stopped at the Pals parking lot on the Andrew Johnson Highway. He reportedly went to the back of Pals over a curb, through the grass, stopping at a wood line. K9 Narco was deployed at that time and several deputy’s assisted with the arrest.
Fenner had an odor of alcohol coming from his person. He was taken by EMS to Greeneville Community Hospital for a dog bite. After being cleared by the hospital, he was transported to the Greene County Detention Center for DUI 1st offense, reckless endangerment, evading arrest, and speeding.
