A Maryland man was arrested Tuesday night for public intoxication after he was reportedly standing in traffic on Blue Springs Parkway.
The Greene County Sheriff’s Department responded around 10:30 PM to the 2700 block of Blue Springs Parkway on the report of a man obstructing traffic who appeared intoxicated. Ernesto De La Cruz was wearing dark colored clothing and there had been multiple calls from citizens who almost hit him.
When De La Cruz saw the deputy, he reportedly started to run. A brief foot pursuit ensued before De La Cruz stopped. He then resisted being arrested and had to be assisted to the ground to be placed in handcuffs.
According to the report, De La Cruz appeared extremely intoxicated and was laughing after the incident. He was transported to the Greene County Detention Center on charges of public intoxication and resisting stop, frisk, halt, arrest or search.
