The Greeneville City Board of Education and City Council met yesterday afternoon and voted to move forward with Woolpert Cooperative Strategies, who will gather data, surveys, and have community engagement when putting together a plan for a new Middle School on Jeff Woods Memorial Drive.
The company was selected by a subcommittee and are to form a plan for the boards that will help them in their next step to get started with building the new school. Woolpert and Cooperative Strategies recently joined companies and combined have experience in assisting school districts with builds, funding, educational program planning, school facility management, and serve K-12 clients, formulating plans that include data, surveys, a demographic study, and more including community engagement.
According to the company if they were to get started September 1 they could have the final plan together by June of 2024 and will cost anywhere from $139,000 to around $148,000. According to the City Administrator Todd Smith, the school project will be financed over the next seven years.
