The Tennessee Department of Labor & Workforce Development reported this afternoon that the state matched its all-time low unemployment rate in June.
The seasonally adjusted rate for the month was 3.2 percent, matching the historic low that the state first reached prior to the pandemic in 2020.
The state’s unemployment rate had held steady at 3.3 percent the previous two months before dropping in June. The rate of 3.2 percent in June mirrors the state’s rate from June 2022.
Between May and June 2023, employers across the state added 9,500 jobs. During the past year, employers created 84,600 jobs across Tennessee.
The national unemployment rate for June was 3.6 percent, down slightly from 3.5 percent in May.
