The Greeneville Municipal Airport Authority gave an update on the Airport Manager position during their meeting yesterday and announced the official hiring of a new manager.
Steve Neeson, who has been the manager since 2020, will be replaced by Angela Alley and has been asked to train her before officially stepping back. The decision to demote him was made in January of this year, with a 3-2 member vote.
Neeson was also asked to provide a list of accomplishments within the last six months. At the time he expressed the decision to demote him was unfortunate. He claimed it was expected with the airport running the way it has in recent years. Several feel the reason for the change in Neeson’s position wasn’t clear, especially with the success he’s been contributing to at the airport.
Neesen has hired legal counsel regarding the matter.
Interim Chairman Paul McCafee was officially elected as the Chairman of the Greeneville Municipal Airport Authority during the meeting. New member of the Airport Authority Justin Jeffers was elected as Vice Chairman. Jeffers was first recommended as Chairman, but a motion had already been made and seconded for McCafee.
Member Sherry Hensley recommended Jimmy Collins to be the Vice Chairman but he declined. A motion was made by Wes Hope to elect Jeffers. Although more experience on the board may be beneficial, members also claimed that with his experience and new outlook, he was a good candidate for the position.
