Police responded to a call Saturday afternoon from the hospital of a woman wanting to report abuse.
An officer went to Greeneville Community Hospital around 7:15 pm Saturday, and spoke with Kayla Hogston, of North Hardin Street. However, the details Hogston gave of the abuse incident continued to change throughout the interview.
After the consequences of filing a false report were pointed out, Hogston reportedly stated she wanted to hurt herself and attempted to leave the hospital. Hogston ignored commands to stop and she was detained for her safety.
According to the report, she attempted to hit the officer and continued kicking at first responders after she was in handcuffs and placed onto a hospital bed. Hogston had to be further restrained to prevent injury to first responders, medical staff, and herself.
Hogston was checked over and discharged from the hospital after she was medically cleared. She reportedly admitted she had not been struck and that she did not need a report for abuse. She was taken into custody and charged for filing a false report, resisting stop, and assaulting a police officer.
