Hazy skies may persist for the next few days as smoke from wildfires in Canada are being swept south.
The spike in air pollution comes from wildfires that have been raging in the Canadian provinces of Quebec and Nova Scotia. As of Tuesday afternoon, more than 400 fires were burning around Canada, from British Columbia and Alberta in the west, to Nova Scotia and Quebec in the east.
According to the Greeneville/Greene County Office of Emergency Management and Homeland Security the visibility from the smoke could get worse in the upcoming days given the weather pattern and suggests anyone with breathing issues to stay in doors. Rain is in the forecast today with an 80% chance of showers and thunderstorms after 2 PM and lower temperatures near 68 degrees. Rain chance could continue into tonight.
