A camper on Airport Road caught fire yesterday around 5 PM and was a total loss after it engulfed in flames.
The Greene County Sheriff’s Department responded to the fire as well as the Greeneville Fire Department. The complainant who reported the structure fire was at the neighbors’ house when he heard a loud boom. When he went outside he saw the camper was engulfed and called 911.
The owner of the camper was contacted and said he was borrowing power from the neighbor via an extension cord but that he checked the gas was off before leaving. He states only a few items were plugged into the extension cord and even checked for the smell of gas before leaving. No injuries were reported at the time.
