The performing ambassadors of the Great Navajo Nation will be visiting Greeneville as part of a national tour.
The Dineh Tah’ Navajo Dancers will perform at the General Morgan Inn on Friday, April 21 at 6:30 p.m. On Thursday, April 20, members will have a ceremonial blessing at the Andrew Johnson Homestead at 10:30 a.m. and will participate in a presentation at First Presbyterian Church at 6:30 p.m.
The tour is in recognition of the 155th Anniversary of the signing of the Treaty that established the Navajo Nation State. The treaty was signed by President Andrew Johnson on August 12, 1868.
Established in 1993, the group’s purpose is to educate and share performances of traditional Navajo dances and songs and provide an understanding of the rich cultural traditions of the Navajo “Dineh” People.
The April 21 performance from the Dineh Tah’ Navajo Dancers is as guests of the Andrew Johnson Heritage Association, the official friends’ group of the Andrew Johnson National Historic Site, as part of their fundraising dinner.
Both programs on April 20 are free and open to the public. The April 21 performance includes dinner and is limited to 100 guests. Tickets are $75 apiece and reservations can be made in person at the Andrew Johnson Bank downtown branch or by calling 525-0240.
