The Greene County Board of Education will meet this afternoon and discuss various items on their agenda including the approval of updated policies on first reading for reporting student progress, maintaining test security, and approve procedures for the grading systems.
For the grading system, Pass and Fail will be implemented beginning with the 2023-2024 school year due to the State not recognizing S (satisfactory), N (needs improvement), or U (unsatisfactory).
In old business the board will discuss approving updated content on Building and Grounds Management, Safety, the Emergency Preparedness Plan, service animals in district facilities, student transportation, and student alcohol and drug testing. The updated content for student testing states a School Resource Officer will take the student for the drug test and the parent meets the SRO and student at the testing location.
Also for discussion in new business is the approval of a contract for United Health Care Insurance Company, approval of grants, a CTE Brick and Masonry Day, approval of a request to show a movie at the school, and out of state field trips.
The board will also take time and recognize the participating teachers in the Niswonger Foundation’s Comprehensive Educational Resources Consortium (CER). CER is a collaboration between twenty-six districts in Northeast Tennessee and the Niswonger Foundation, which reaches approximately 100,000 students.
The board will meet at 5:30 PM in the James Parham Central Office.
