Around 4:30 Friday afternoon, police responded to a motor vehicle accident on West Andrew Johnson Highway and Banks Street.
A passenger in the backseat of the vehicle originally gave her name as a female from Abingdon, Virginia, even giving officers the female’s drivers license.
Later, the suspect was identified as Stephanie Beavers of Coeburn, Virginia, after she was digitally fingerprinted.
Beavers was found to have two active warrants from Johnson City and Sullivan County. A K9 officer gave a positive alert on the vehicle, and a syringe and a rubber tie-off band were found in Beavers’s purse.
She was placed under arrest for criminal impersonation and possession of drug paraphernalia.
