The Greeneville Energy Authority will meet this morning and hear a presentation from Tennessee Valley Authority representative Chris Quillen, on the Winter Storm that caused rolling blackouts across the region over the Christmas weekend in 2022.
Tennessee Valley Authority released a statement after Christmas break stating they take full responsibility for the impact that was had on customers during the black outs. In TVA’s statement they said due to the record breaking cold temperatures and high winds, power grids were strained across the nation and within a 24-hour period they supplied more power than any other time in TVA’s 90-year history.
TVA said they were conducting a thorough review of what occurred and they would be sharing that information with their customers.
Included on the agenda is also the approval of projects, purchases etc., and a discussion on a program called Home Uplift.
The meeting will be held at 9 AM in the G. Thomas Love Boardroom, at the Greeneville Light and Power.
