Greene County Imagination Library is having “Coffee and a Book” an event that could have coffee shops in Greene County, working together to raise enough funds for books, which are donated to Greene County Children.
Radio Greeneville News spoke with Ruth Burkey, Coordinator for Greene County Imagination Library, and she said the event will be held until the 3rd of February, but there is a possibility it could be extended. The Imagination Library provides quality at no-cost books to children under the age of 5. Over 3,000 Greene County families will benefit.
Local Imagination Libraries must raise funds in order to pay the monthly book bills and depend on the community to provide the opportunity to children in the county. Coffee shops participating include Firefly Landing Café & Bakery, located at 564 Tusculum Boulevard, 423 Coffee and Mercantile at 1350 Andrew Johnson Highway, Catalyst Coffee on Main Street, and Creamy Cup located on 885 Erwin Highway. The Imagination Library is hoping other coffee shops will be apart of “Coffee and a Book.” If interested or for any questions call Ruth at (423) 329-0466, or email at [email protected].
All donations go towards purchasing books. Coffee Shops working together can fund one month’s book bill. Visit your favorite coffee shop and add your donation by adding it into coffee containers located at shops. $1 is equal to one book for a child in the county. $15 is equal to 12 books, for one child, for a whole year! You can also donate online by scanning the QR code, provided on their flyer, and in the participating coffee shops.
