The Debusk Volunteer Fire Department has had an upgrade in their Insurance Services Office rating. Debusk was recently upgraded from a rating of 9 to a rating of 6, according to Greene County Mayor Kevin Morrison.
The ISO rating system assigns a number 1 through 10 which rates a fire department’s ability to respond to and fight fires. The lower the rating, the better equipped the department is, which also translates to homeowner’s insurance policy cost.
The rating takes into account a department’s communications ability, the number and types of fire trucks in service, credits for training and for the water supply for the fire department’s district. Response times and coverage area also factor into the department’s rating.
Debusk Fire Chief is Heath Gregg.
