Mrs. Etta Louise Fair Carter was born on November 28, 1940, and passed away on Monday, August 17, 2026. She was a devout Christian, wife, and mother of two.
She drove a bus for Greeneville Christian Academy, worked at Southern Electronics, and retired from American Greetings after 40 years of service.
She was a devout charter member of Central Baptist Church. She loved her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ with all her heart, soul, and mind. She looked for any way to glorify God in her life and to point as many to Christ as she could.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, George Wayne Carter; two brothers, Ralph and Raymond Fair; one sister, Emma Jean Fair Slemp, and brother-in-law, Hasford Slemp; her parents, Stanton and Chassie Fair; and a great-granddaughter, Averee Renee Young.
She leaves behind one daughter, Constance Renee’ Carter Wilkerson and husband Craig Wilkerson; one son, John Wayne Carter and wife Danielle Ferraro Carter; two granddaughters and a grandson-in-law, Chaston Shae’ Wilkerson and Andrew Young, and Addison Kate Carter; one grandson, John Wayne Carter Jr.; two great-grandchildren, Blake Aaron Young and Kendrick Wayne Young; one very special niece, Regina Fair Carpenter and husband Jeff Carpenter; three great-nephews, Neil Greenwell and wife Wendy Greenwell, Garrett and Colton Carpenter; one great-niece, Shana Greenwell; great-great-nephew and niece, Donoven and Mason Brower; and sister-in-law, Elaine Fair.
The graveside service will be held Thursday at noon in Cross Anchor Cemetery with Eddie Owens, Jeff Casteel and Pastor Brad Higgins officiating.
Family and friends are requested to meet at the cemetery for the service.
