A shoplifting incident at Dollar General on West Summer Street is under investigation.
An employee reported to the Greeneville Police Department on Sunday that two women gathered items and proceeded to the self checkout around 6:30 PM. The employee offered to check out their items, but they insisted on using the self checkout.
One of the women said the other one was her daughter. The two women then scanned the items in their cart and the younger woman exited the store with the items. The older woman then told the employee that she had to go to her vehicle to get her debit card because she forgot it.
The employee requested the items be brought back into the store. Both women then left in a dark colored SUV without paying for the items, which totaled around $255.
Video footage was obtained from the self checkout camera.
