The Greeneville City Council will begin the process of determining the future use of the George Clem property when it meets on Tuesday.
The City School system is currently in the process of moving its operations from thew George Clem property to the newly named Greeneville Career and Technical Academy property on Hal Henard Road.
The City Council plans to appoint a working committee to develop a future plan for the building.
The George Clem building was originally George Clem High School, named in honor of George Clem. It was closed in 1965 due to desegregation. In addition to the Operations Center for the Greeneville City Schools , it also houses the George Clem Head Start Center and the George Clem Multicultural Alliance at the Floral Street location. The George Clem Multicultural Alliance uses the building for events and meetings.
Several event and sign requests and committee appointments are also on the agenda for the 4 pm meeting Tuesday in the G. Thomas Love Boardroom at the GEA building.
The Beer Board will convene immediately after the City Council meeting.
