Washington County Sheriff’s Deputies have charged a Johnson City couple following a high speed pursuit on Saturday.

Jill Sammons and Adam Sammons, both 29, are charged with reckless driving, reckless endangerment, evading arrest, running a red light and speeding. Jill Sammons was also charged with improper display of registration.

Deputies were reportedly handling traffic enforcement in the 5000 block of Kingsport Highway when they observed three motorcycles traveling at a high rate of speed. The pursuit continued onto Interstate 26. One exited onto Boones Creek Road and deputies approached the driver, later identified as Jill Sammons, when she stopped at the red light. She was taken into custody and transported to the Washington County Detention Center. Jill Sammons told deputies she did not know the other drivers, but heard one was named Adam.

Two hours after Jill Sammons was transported, Adam Sammons arrived to post her bond. Deputies quickly identified Adam, Jill’s husband, as one of the other drivers and took him into custody.

Adam Sammons bond was set at $12,000 and Jill Sammons bond was set at $10,000. Both bonded out and will appear in court on July 9.

No other information was provided on the third driver.
